GE Teach to receive a Geographic Excellence in Media Award

Late in 2011 we told you about GEteach, an exceptional educational website developed by geography teacher Josh Williams. Using the Google Earth Plug-in, GEteach provides easy access for students to the CIA Factbook, population densities and much more.

We are pleased to announce that Josh's site will be receiving a Geographic Excellent in Media Award (GEM) from the National Council for Geographic Education (NCGE). There are awards being given in a wide variety of categories, and I encourage you to view the full list of recipients that are being recognized for their hard work.

The awards will be given outs the NCGE annual Conference on Geographic Education in San Marcos, TX on October 6. Congratulations to Josh and all of the other winners!

Google releases Street View imagery for Kennedy Space Center

Google has just pushed out 6,000 Street View panoramas at NASA's Kennedy Space Center, including some amazing shots like this view of the Saturn V rocket:

The massive number of panoramas makes this the largest "special" Street View collection that Google has released. Google has many more highlights to show off in their blog entry, and TechCrunch highlights a few more.

Google has also created a special video to highlight this new coverage, which can be seen below:
