thanksgivingTomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the US, and I'm looking forward to taking it easy and enjoying time with family, eating the big meal, and watching some football.

A few years ago, Frank created the world's largest Thanksgiving greeting card. You can check it out in Google Earth. Feel free to share the link with your friends or family. (By the way, if you look closely, you'll see a placemark with a turkey icon. Check out the placemark for a little Thanksgiving trivia.)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Explore over 10,000 mines with Mining Atlas

by Google Earth Blog on Nov.20, 2012, under 3D Models, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, California, Denmark, England, Germany, Google Earth News, Google Earth Tips, Google Sky, Google maps, Hawaii, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, Natural Landmarks, Netherlands, Sightseeing, Street Views, USA

Thanks to Google Earth's 3D terrain and high-resolution imagery, massive items like mountains and volcanoes have always looked amazing. Given their impressive size, major mines around the world can look equally impressive.

Mining Atlas is an impressive platform that enables you to explore over 10,000 mines across the globe and then take a tour of that mine once you are there. Their integration with the Google Earth plug-in is quite impressive, and makes for a very interactive site. While using the site you can select items on the left side of the screen, and see the results in Google Earth on the right.

All in all, it's an excellent use of the Google Earth plug-in. I encourage you to go check it out for yourself at Mining-Atlas.com.
